Summer Construction on
New Water Lines and Storage Tanks

This summer, the Mount Werner Water & Sanitation District will be undertaking $3 million in construction projects to improve the performance of the District's water system:

Burgess Creek 250,000 Gallon Storage Tank
The Forest Service granted access June 16th. Our contractor is completing the water main to the tank and conducting leak tests before backfilling the tank and re-grading the site. We expect the tank to be on-line by late summer.

New Burgess Creek Pump Station and
Ridge Road Pressure-Reducing Valve (PRV)
Our contractor has excavated the site and formed up the structure of the new pump station in the bank between Burgess Creek Road and Ridge Road; a new PRV vault has been installed along the water main behind the Bearberry B&B. We expect this project to be completed by the end of July.

Whistler Road Water Main Replacement
This project will strengthen the southern portion of the District by upsizing the Whistler Road water main from Walton Creek Road to Stone Lane. Phase I (700 LF of 12-inch main from Walton Creek Road to Athens Plaza, was completed June 17th; Phase II (1500 LF of 12-inch main from Athens Plaza to Stone Lane) will be completed by the end of July.

Laurel Lane 250,000 Gallon Storage Tank
This storage tank will increase water reserves in the southern portion of the District and improve fire-flow availability in the Laurel Lane neighborhood. The District has established the tank location above the Laurel Lane cul-de-sac and has completed design of the access road and tank structure. Construction of the access road may begin in the early fall.

The District recognizes the inconvenience that new construction poses within a residential area. Our contractors are prepared to mitigate the impact of construction with regulated start-up and shut-down times, excavation barriers, street sweeping, erosion control, and traffic control. Work crews may have to remove obstructions such as fences, bushes and landscaping rocks that lie in utility easements or the City right-of-way.
