Fire Flow Project Update
May 7, 2010

Since the District's 2005 Fire Flow Availability Report was released, the District has completed most of the recommended improvements to improve the performance of the District’s water system and increase water supplies for fire-fighting.

2006 Completed Timothy Drive Water Main Loop to improve fire hydrant performance.

2006 - 2007 Installed 43 new hydrants throughout the District.

2007 Installed two water mains and a new pressure reducing valve to improve water supplies in the Longthong neighborhood.

2007 - 2008 Completed Burgess Creek Tank, Burgess Creek-Ridge Road loop, Burgess Creek Pump Station, and two pressure reducing valves.

2008 Completed Whistler Road water main upsizing.

* 2010 Construction of the Alpenglow pump station and Phase I of the Columbine Backbone water main.

* After three years of negotiations, the District failed to secure the necessary easements from the landowner to construct the Laurel Lane Tank. Instead, the District has moved forward to design and construct a pump station to improve fire flows in the high zone of the South District. The Laurel Lane Tank remains in the Master Plan as a future project to provide water storage for the area and redundancy for the Christie Tank.
