Fire Flow Project Update
27 NOVEMBER 2006

The Mount Werner Water & Sanitation District has completed the first phase of construction to improve the performance of the District’s water system and increase water supplies for fire-fighting.

The District has completed the water main connection between the Timothy Drive cul-de-sac and Whistler Road. This new connection will substantially improve the performance of fire hydrants in the neighborhood.

In addition, the District has installed 20 of 43 new hydrants scheduled for the 2006 and 2007 construction seasons.

The District has also awarded contracts for the Ridge Road storage tank and for two water main connectors between Ski Trail Lane, Longthong Road, and Apres Ski Way. The wet Fall and early snows have caused us to defer these projects to the 2007 construction season. We are still awaiting the Special Use Permit from the Forest Service for the Ridge Road Tank.

For the Laurel Lane Tank Project, we have reached an agreement with the landowner on a road alignment that meets the needs of both parties. With the deferral of all construction of the Ridge Road Tank, we will be pushing the bulk of the Laurel Lane Tank construction to 2008.
