If you are purchasing a home or business, please contact us at least one day prior to the closing so we may schedule a beginning read at the property. If we are not notified and are unable to get a final read, you may be responsible for a pro-rated amount of the usage. There are no forms to fill out and we do not require a deposit.
If you are moving into a rental property and are responsible for paying the water bill, please get a copy of our Request for 3rd Party Billing Form for the owner to sign. They must authorize this request before we can bill you.
If you are selling your home or business, please contact us at least one day prior to the closing, so we my schedule a final read at the property. If we are not notified and are unable to get a final read, you may be responsible for a pro-rated amount of the usage.
If you are moving out of a rental unit, please contact us so we know to take the bill out of your name. Future bills will then be mailed to the owner.
RENTAL-PROPERTY OWNERS & LANDLORDS
If you own or are responsible for a rental unit, there are a few things you should be aware of:
- We do not pro-rate between an owner and a tenant. If a tenant does not occupy the property for the entire billing quarter, the bill will be mailed to the owner for settlement.
- We will not take a meter reading at the property when a tenant moves in or out. The owner is responsible for making any usage charge pro-rations.
- The owner is ultimately responsible for all charges incurred by the occupant. A balance that remains unpaid may result in disconnection and a lien filed on the property.
If a tenant moves in or out mid-quarter, Mount Werner Water will help you estimate their first or final bill. We strongly suggest that you call for an estimated final bill prior to releasing a security deposit.
