bio - Jon Halverson

Jon Halverson, a member of the Mount Werner Water & Sanitation District board of directors since December 2004, retired from a 28-year career as a natural resources attorney with Davis Graham & Stubbs in 1992. He joined the law firm right out of Columbia University law school in 1963 and became a full partner in 1968.

Halverson was a member of the board of directors of Strings in the Mountains from 1994-2001 and chairman from 1998-2001; and he was on the board of the Yampa Valley Land Trust from 1993-95. He served on the Colorado Council of the Nature Conservancy from 1996-2004, and he is currently on the Local Advisory Committee in Routt County.

Halverson earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in international relations at Dartmouth College in 1960.

Originally from Syracuse, N.Y., Halverson discovered Steamboat Springs as the ideal family weekend get-away in 1973. He and his wife Anne purchased property to build a home in 1978 and turned it into their permanent residence in 1993. Halverson enjoys outdoor activities such as skiing, hiking and tennis.
