The Mount Werner Water District has been providing water and sewer service to residents of Steamboat Springs since 1965. We provide water and sewer services primarily to the resort area of Steamboat Springs. Generally speaking, this encompasses all properties within city limits and south of Fish Creek.

Customers in the district are billed quarterly for water and sewer service. A typical bill reflects a water and sewer base charge and a water usage charge. Meters record usage in cubic meters (1 m3 = 264.173 gallons) and are read at the end of each calendar quarter (March, June, September, December). Bills are mailed shortly after meters are read and payments are due within 30 days of the mailing date.

If you have a question about your bill or service, please contact us at (970) 879-2424 or send an email to Customer Service.

Connecting Service

Owner

If you are purchasing a home or business, please contact us at least one day prior to the closing so that we have all of the information on file. If we are not notified and are unable to get a final read, you may be responsible for a pro-rated amount of the usage. There are no forms to fill out and we do not require a deposit.

Tenant

If you are moving into a rental property and are responsible for paying the water bill, please get a copy of our Request for 3rd Party Billing Form for the owner to sign. They must authorize this request before we can bill you.

Disconnecting Service

Owner

If you are selling your home or business, please contact us at least one day prior to the closing, so that we can final bill the account on the correct day. If we are not notified, you may be responsible for a pro-rated amount of the usage.

Tenant

If you are moving out of a rental unit, please contact us so we know to take the bill out of your name. Future bills will then be mailed to the owner.

Rental-Property Owners & Landlords

The owner of a property is ultimately responsible for all charges incurred by the occupant. A balance that remains unpaid may result in disconnection and a lien filed on the property.

If a tenant moves in or out mid-quarter, Mount Werner Water will help you estimate their first or final bill. We strongly suggest that you call for an estimated final bill prior to releasing a security deposit.
